Improving Self-Worth through Self-Compassion

How do we have better self-worth – the pathway is compassion. You will encounter frustrations, losses will occur, you will make mistakes, bump up against your limitations, fall short of your ideals. The thing to recognize is that this is the human condition, a reality shared by all of us. The more you open your heart to this reality instead of constantly fighting against it, the more you will be able to feel compassion for yourself and all your fellow humans. To let your heart respond to such pain in others and ourselves with warmth and caring and a desire to help and not just judge. Now does compassion mean that we become complacent; We just settle into mediocrity, or worse, give ourselves a pass and take ourselves off the hook. No that is not it. Living with self-compassion is to make a practice of these 3 A’s – Awareness, Authenticity, and Accountability. We must take responsibility for increasing our self-awareness, for showing up in our lives with authenticity, and for our healing.
