She has gained wide-ranging experiences and has demonstrated competence at working with diverse individuals from varied backgrounds seeking help for a range of concerns.
Her Cultural Journey:
She is originally from Hyderabad, India and has lived over 18 years in the US. She is deeply embedded in both cultures and intimately familiar with the dance involved in shifting between cultures. She is always reflective and deeply examines value systems, and culturally bound norms, and expectations.
“I am continually engaged in the work of deliberately developing and internalizing my personal value system and code of honor. A deeper sense of understanding regarding what I personally hold to be valuable in life, gives me the confidence and the flexibility to slip in and out of different environments that have entirely different norms and expectations, without losing my identity. Gaining such a sense of personal cohesion has led to a greater appreciation for America and its culture as well as to a deepening of love for India and its customs”.
These life experiences have also uniquely sensitized her to issues related to migration, loss, intergenerational conflicts in families, marginalized identities, trauma, and distribution of power and privilege in societies. She approaches each individual and each situation with cultural humility and her work with multicultural competence. She is both trauma and justice informed and advocates for equity and inclusion in all of her work.
